In short, the statute of limitations and other issues that affect traditional collection agencies don't apply to them-you can't make this one go away with letters or even litigation. Sure it only shows on EX and TU (no EQ) but make no mistake-as government they don't have to play by FDCPA or the other rules. Why? Because CCU collects for all State of Maryland government billing, and when I ran my credit reports, instead of seeing nothing (which, let's face it, I thought they were just some typically lame, State-run disorganized operation.what were the odds?) I discovered it there. I was undergoing medical treatment for a primary brain tumor, and frankly, wasn't driving, so dealing with car-related stuff simply wasn't a priority for me at the time. I had a modest collection from the CCU as well, that originated from an expired MVA (auto) registration I ignored years ago.
